Santa Clara Valley Urban Runoff Pollution Prevention Program
Watershed Watch Campaign
Targeting adults, school-age children, and the Latino community, TRG developed an extensive campaign for a stormwater and watershed protection program called Watershed Watch. As a result of TRG’s efforts to bring community, media and business partners into the campaign, the campaign budget was augmented with over $300,000 in value-added resources. The Watershed Watch campaign was awarded the Outstanding CCMP Implementation Project by Friends of the Estuary for the success of our efforts.

The logo was developed through a collaborative effort among the Program’s member agencies throughout the County.

TRG created and managed a multi-media ad campaign including television, radio, transit, and print, focusing on various aspects of stormwater pollution prevention. Through TRG’s negotiations, we were able to secure much more media attention with limited budgets by establishing win-win partnerships.

"Got" themed ads got attention in newspapers and as posters in businesses.

The brochure had a unique design that demonstrated the flow of storm water through a watershed. The objective was to provide a greater understanding of what a watershed is and the importance of preventing pollution in local waterways.

The website brought helpful pollution prevention information to the public.

TRG brought numerous business, environmental and nonprofit partners to the campaign, which augmented budget dollars and added value in distribution, website links, events and other resources. Partners included Happy Hollow Zoo, Children’s Discovery Museum, Classic Car Wash, a tune up shop, numerous local media, and others.

The fluorescent bulb pollution prevention campaign informed the public about the dangers of mercury contained in fluorescent bulbs. The campaign included newspaper ads, transit ads and posters.
